Trip to Gwalior

It was the engagement ceremony of my cousin sister which was planned to be held in Gwalior as the groom was from Gwalior and they convinced my relatives to come there for engagement ceremony. Per the schedule we left for Gwalior, from Delhi. Gwalior is 6-7 hrs. journey so instead of taking train or flight we decided to hire a mini bus in which main relatives can board in and go together having fun, as per the schedule we started from Delhi somewhere around 10 pm and by morning 6:30 we were at the groom’s place in darpan colony, near very famous temple of Gwalior named Ram Krishna temple.

Reaching there we got ready, had our breakfast and thinking what to do as whole day was free and the ceremony was in the evening. All the ladies as usual busy showing the sarees, jewellery bought for bride whereas men were busy taking with groom’s relative deciding how to take up the marriage occasion.

We being the youngest did not got a chance to be a part of this so decided to take off and roam around the city named Gwalior. We spoke to groom and he asked one of his friend to accompany us and show the city. As it was 9:25 am so we have ample time to see the city.

Firstly we started from a modern places to see like Jiwaji university, Jaya Vilas Palace, Ayurvedic College, Gandhi Park, Madhav Institute of science and slowly started going in history of Gwalior and groom’s friend named Kuldeep showed us other things as well like Chugan ke Hanuman, Gargaj ke Hanuman, Ramji ka Pura, Shiva temple.

Looking at these places it was so clam and relaxing that there are no words to explain. While watching these monuments one can go in dreams and can imagine how kings used to live, what activities they used to perform, how was there life style. Kuldeep showed up a place named Gujari Mahal, which was built by King Man for his wife and now it’s a museum.

Apart from this as we were having shortage of time he just told us about other place which were in Gwalior and because of these Gwalior is being recognized in the books of history. There are lot of places to see in Gwalior provided you would have time like Gwalior Fort, Suraj Kund, Palace of Man Mandir, etc.

As we were having our own car so going around the city was not a problem and if you don’t have that even then also one should not have any problem going around the city that’s what I felt. The major transport in Gwalior is tempo which charge around 5/- to 7/- per passenger depending on the distance.

Going around the city we saw lots of good handicraft items which depicts the Indian art, insisting on my younger sis I got her few items like doll, bangles, sleepers (juthis) and after getting that I saw a million dollar smile on her and thought all the items I got for her were worth.

Around 5:30 we were back to darpan colony and in next one hour we all were ready for the ceremony. At 7’o clock we headed to ceremony place which was near ESI College. We came back late night and simply hit the beds.

Morning after getting ready we were called for the breakfast and they prepared there typical dish, which was simply awesome, I think I will not forget the taste of it. Kuldeep also joined us for the breakfast we gave us a promise that when we will come again for marriage then he will show us all the places in detailed provided we will come with good leaves.

I agreed and promised him that I will definitely take few leaves from my office and come early to Gwalior to see all the places, as we came on a short trip so didn’t got much time to see around but whatever we saw it was simply good and unforgettable.
