Stay at Nimrana Fort

Neemrana is in state of Rajastan and is about 120 kilometers from New Delhi. It is in south west of Delhi. So, one can drive to Neemrana in 3 hours from New Delhi by Car on NH8. Neemarana is famous for a fort.

We started the travel in morning 9:00am by car to Neemrana. The drive is very good. We stayed in the Neemrana fort hotel. One can see the directions of the hotel in the fort in highway itself. The board is quite small and it is easily possible to miss that turn. From Rajastan border checkpost it is on the right side after couple of kilometers. It is advisable to ask the people on the road. One has to go to the fort via the Neemrana Village. Road inside villege is quite good. At foot of the hill to the entrance of the fort on hill the road is bit rough. This rough road is at most 1 kilometer. But, vehicles including buses do go in this road.

The fort is converted into a hotel. Even though the hotel is considered as a 5 star hotel, I can say the facilities were equivalent to a 4-star hotel. One has to reach the reception by climbing about 300 meters from vehicle parking place. The employees of the hotel carried the luggage. The room rent is between Rs.2000 to Rs. 15000 depending upon the type of room. We had booked a room at Rs.4500. The website of the hotel neemranahotels.com gives details about the room type and facilities. There are AC and non-AC rooms. The hotel has 50 rooms.

Most rooms are different from each other as the fort and palace is converted into a hotel.
The area of the fort is about 1 sq kilometer on a hill. The fort is quite intact and it is maintained well. It was built in 1464 AD and it was built by earlhy Rajput kings. The hotel in the fort has all amenities like swimming pool, restaurent. The height of the fort is about 400 meters from ground. In the evening the fort in lighted with lamps, lanterns and torches. In the evening, the hotel organises the Rajastani folk dances or other cultural programs.

One must travel in winter to have pleasant weather. The fort is made up of red and grey stones. A tourist guide in the hotel guides us through the fort. If you like to visit the fort without staying there overnight, the fees is about Rs.150. The food is in hotel’s luxuary restaurent. The cost for buffet is Rs.500. One has to eat inside the fort restaurent as there are no other places in Neemrana where you can eat. The night sky is quite clear. Near the fort one can see Peacocks and also camels.

The checkin and checkout time of the hotel is 2:00pm. The room was clean, but oddly shaped.
